The water-ingress problem
Water entering a flat’s kitchen ceiling and light fitting prompted an investigation of the tiled roof and its junctions around a rooflight, parapet wall and chimney.
Opening up and carrying out the repair
We removed tiles, battens and damaged roofing felt from the affected area. This exposed the underlying construction so the repair could address the roofing layers beneath the tiles.
Replacement layers and leadwork
Our work included fitting new breathable membrane and battens, reinstating the tiles around the existing rooflight, redressing leadwork at the parapet and chimney, and fitting and sealing the chimney back gutter.
The completed work
The repairs were completed on 29 October 2026. Photographs document the original condition, opening-up, replacement layers and reinstated roof. Performance following subsequent rainfall remains to be recorded.
